OUR Mustang was built in Dearborn, Michigan on December 20, 1971. It was shipped to Holmes Tuttle Broadway Ford in Tucson, Arizona where it was sold on January 18, 1972. It stayed in Arizona until July 28, 1994 when it was sold to a couple in Belen, New Mexico. In 1997, the car was offered for sale at a car show in New Mexico. It was purchased and transported to Ocala, Florida where I took possession of it. A combination of the care given by the previous owners and the mid-west climate helped to preserve the car over the years. The car had all her original parts and with a little work she was restored to the pristine condition you see today.

THIS car is a fairly rare breed.  Ford production of the Mach 1's was down and only 27,675 cars were produced for the 1972 year model, less than any other year.  This car was a was a domestic special order with a "DSO" code of 75 showing the cars ordering district as Phoenix, Arizona.  This car was built with a "Q" code 351 Cleveland Cobra-Jet 4 barrel carburetor equipped engine.  Even more rare this 1972 car was built in late 1971 and ordered with functional "Dual Ram Air Induction".  Ram air induction was only available with a four barrel carbureted engine during the first few months of the 1972 production year.  Ford was forced stop production due to EPA regulations and could only offer ram air on two barrel carbureted cars.  The "Ram Air Induction" option included a functional NASA type hood with black or argent two-tone paint, hood lock pins and "Ram Air" hood decals.  This car was ordered with the optional body side tape strips and spoilers giving it every appearance option available.  The retail selling price of this car was $4,736.82 including a $5.20 charge for 13 gallons of gas, which sold for 40 cents a gallon.

DOCUMENTED FACTORY OPTIONS: Code 9A Wimbledon white with deluxe Mach 1 vermillion interior, sport fold down rear deck/seat including a F78x14 space saver spare tire, Q-code 351 4V Cobra Jet engine with factory installed Ram Air Induction system, Select-Shift Cruise-O-Matic type III C-6 transmission, 3.25:1 limited slip axel, deluxe instrument panel, unique grill with sport lamps, body side tape stripes, Magnum 500 wheels, F60x15 wide oval tires, rear deck spoiler, front air spoiler, power steering, deluxe three spoke "Rim Blow" steering wheel, locking tilt steering column, power front disc brakes, Selectaire air conditioner, Stereosonic 8-track tape system with front mounted door speakers, AM radio, console with clock, deluxe uni-lock seat belts with warning light, and tinted glass.
