The
Corvette Club of Marion County was co-founded in 1984 by Glen and Roxie
Sims & Roger DeConna.
The club will celebrate it's 25th year anniversary in the
Spring of 2009. A set of club by-laws is furnished upon request from the
Secretary. The club is incorporated under the laws of the State of Florida and
is governed by a membership-approved set of By-Laws. Nominations
for the clubs Board are requested at the annual November meeting and
selected by popular vote of the the membership during the December
meting. A standard agenda is adhered to during the club meeting.
Roberts Rules of Standard Business Meetings are adhered to during
meetings.
Presently
our club has over 130 active members.
A monthly newsletter and membership rosters is distributed online
via the club news link on the side bar.
The
club is a non-profit club and is open to membership to anyone who owns a
Corvette. Therefore members
are encouraged to research and provide nominations for charitable
organizations to membership in the last quarter of the year.
Voting for a charitable organization is made by year-end.
The monies collected throughout the year are distributed in
December to the respective organizations, the Boys and Girls Club of Marion County and the Rape Crisis
Center. Volunteering by membership is encouraged by contacting the
organizations directly. In
addition, the club on occasion will vote to set up a special fund for
other charitable organizations. (i.e.
the Club Participated in the 1st CarQuest Corvette Show to
raise monies for the Special Olympics.)
The
Club’s calendar year is a traditional year, which means annual
membership dues are due before January.
